Bitter, Grapefruit (?), Light ale, Bitter water (in a good way)
Surprisingly rather nice and light
Yes, if you like bitter drinks
Probably not as it’s to bitter for my personal taste
Before all of you Ale lovers put my head on a spike for not rating this well rated beer highly, at least let me finish this bottle first. 🙂 The Pride & Joy 3000 is a rather well put together beer that hits everything it’s supposed, though I personally could not bring myself to like it enough to say that I’d buy it again. This level of bitterness is just not for me.
Bitter. It really is. The Pride & Joy 3000 is a pleasant tasting “mild ale”, as they put it, but the bitter front is just rather strong (for me). It does remind me of grapefruit tones though. It is rather light and if you know the taste of metalic-ish tasting tap water this reminds of that taste a bit … in a good way.
It’s a rather refreshing and light taste. Which is why I rated it up after drinking it a while. If you can get past how bitter it is, it’s a spot on beer for sipping, drinking, working around the house with, grilling, writing …. heck, it’s a damn good beer.
I’d certainly rate is a 9 or 9.5 if it weren’t so bitter.
This part surprised me, it’s a rather light smell yet sweet and lightly like tap water. Overall: a very pleasant smell.
Overall & would I buy this again:
Overall I liked it, but not enough to buy it again. For me personally, it’s too bitter. Before I wrote this article I looked up what other folks thought of it and it seems the bitterness doesn’t bother most others as much as it bothers me. To each his own I guess. But because of that I wouldn’t buy this beer again. But for folks adventuring and trying stuff, I’d say it’s worth buying a case to test it out.
